An educational and cultural organization that produces year-round programs focusing on African Diaspora and African-American culture. A highlight is the annual Odunde festival, one of the oldest African-American summer street fairs in the nation, begun in 1975. This celebration of the Nigerian New Year and Yoruba culture attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors. Attractions include an authentic African market with vendors from various African nations selling crafts, jewelry and clothing; African, African-American and Caribbean food; and a variety of musical performers and dancers. The festival is held on the second Sunday in June on South Street, with a locus at 23rd and South. (In 2002, the date is June 9.) Odunde's future plans are to develop a full-time community center and a senior citizen housing village.

Odunde is an organizational member of SSWBA.
